For the professional development of IT teachers BiASC has planned an IT Education Roadshow in May 2022. All relevant IT course providers have been invited to demonstrate their latest educational learning paths on Cybersecurity, IT Infrastructure & Cloud.

Licensing for the products acquired as a Cisco Academy is free. It is important for Cisco Academies to follow up the information explained in NetAcad Maintenance.

The new switch models have been added to the Equipment lists and NetAcad Discount Program. You can navigate to them on NetAcad by going to Resources -> Marketing and Program Resources -> Equipment Information. Please note there is a long lead time when ordering new switches.

NETACAD WORKSHOP DAY 8 oktober 2021

Aangezien het niet duidelijk is welke beperkingen er zullen zijn, heeft BiASC samen met Cisco NetAcad besloten het evenement uit te stellen tot april 2022. Vanaf Oktober worden er wel diverse mogelijkheden voor instructor training en accreditatie aangeboden.

Cisco NetAcad en BiASC organiseren een infodag met algemene sessies en workshops waar je de laatste updates van Networking Academy zult meekrijgen. Cisco NetAcad streeft naar professioneel IT-onderwijs en biedt meer dan 30 probleemgerichte interactieve cursussen. Voor deze speciale dag biedt BiASC extra gratis toegang tot het park + eten en drinken + parkeergelegenheid.

NetAcad New LMS Reminder

As you begin to prepare for your summer activities, we would like to provide you one last reminder about the upcoming LMS Transition milestones and policies. When you return for Fall 2021-22, there will be no access to the old LMS and it will not be possible to unarchive or retrieve any information from those courses.

Please pay careful attention to the below information:

LMS TRANSITION MILESTONE REMINDERS

· 31 July 2021 (Saturday) last end date for all Canvas courses. No exceptions or extensions possible.

· 15 September 2021 (Wednesday) all Canvas courses are archived

All courses ending on or after 17 June 2021 will be archived on 15 September 2021
· 17 September 2021 (Friday) 5:00 PM PDT Canvas is removed from NetAcad.com

All access is removed. No unarchiving of Canvas courses after this date.

POLICY REMINDERS

1. Students must complete any in-progress Canvas courses by 31 July 2021.

2. Instructors must finalize grades and mark students complete in Canvas courses before they are archived.

3. Instructors should not rely on Canvas as a storage system.

1. Instructors must download a copy of their gradebook from Canvas courses before they are archived.

2. Instructors must retrieve and save any customizations made to their Canvas courses before they are archived.

NetAcad Day May 2021 - Presentaties

Op 26 en 28 mei vond de Virtuele NetAcad Day plaats voor Nederlandstalige instructors van hogescholen, onderwijsinstituten en beroepsopleidingen. Op 26 mei komen belangrijke recente ontwikkelingen binnen NetAcad aan bod. Op 28 mei zijn er technische sessies in de domeinen (Cyber)Security, DevNet en DevOps. De sessies geven inspiratie voor de opleidingsstrategie van de toekomst.

Be The Bridge Award from BiASC to BIASC

Our international activities and collaboration with our members have resulted in a Be The Bridge Award from Cisco Networking Academy received on May 25, 2021.

NetAcad Day Belgium 2021

In Belgium NetAcad Day 2021 will be organized in two languages, Dutch & French. The aim is to inform Networking Academy Instructors and Co-ordinators of the evolution in the course content and the requirements in terms of competences and skills.

Dutch sessions are on Wednesday 26 May (PM) and on Friday 28 May (PM)
French session is on Thursday 27 May (PM).

The Bridge to Career Possibilities for People Everywhere

Aim: Be the bridge to career possibilities for people everywhere by providing the best workforce development program in the industry.

Verkenning "Interactief Digitaal Studiemateriaal" - CVO - 26 mei 2021

Op woensdagnamiddag 26 mei 2021 organiseert Belgian IT Academy Support Center vzw (BiASC) een verkennende infosessie voor CVO's over "Interactief Digitaal Studiemateriaal" voor kortlopende of langere IT-opleidingen.

In het volwassenenonderwijs gaan we een nieuwe tijd tegemoet waarin zich bijzondere uitdagingen aanbieden. 

Zowel voor het tweedekansonderwijs als voor de kortlopende opleidingen hebben wij via Networking Academy een heel aanbod van interactieve digitale lesmaterialen die niet commercieel getint zijn. Het gaat om meer dan 20 relevante cursussen, die voor een deel  via begeleide zelfstudie kunnen verlopen.

We willen graag uw aandacht vestigen op deze digitale opportuniteiten waarmee het volwassenenonderwijs een belangrijke rol kan spelen. De eerste stap is een interacitef webinar onder leiding van Nico Declerck, waarna desgewenst een volgende afspraak wordt gemaakt.

Workshop by Tom Cordemans - IPD WEEK - May 2021

During the IPD Week on 5 May 2021 Tom Cordemans will be demonstrating best practices to teach about network security. 

Tom says: "Learning protocols can be hard and sometimes boring. By using the hacker's perspective you can tackle the learning process in a different way. Let's find out. We'll use DHCPv4 as an example." 

We encourage all instructors to take part in Tom's workshop. Tom is an instructor in higher education both in Bruges and Brussels. Moreover, Tom is an active advisor for BiASC. 

Diving into networking protocols by using the hacker’s perspective

Class Archiving

• Class “archiving” happens 3 months after the end date. Means class access is not possible, but Course details page contains student roster, final cumulative course grate, certificate of completion
• All Canvas classes must be concluded by July 31, 2021 and later will be “archived” with NO possibility to be recovered. Instructors must back up  any data (gradebooks, customizations, files) from such classes manually, if needed
• Current max. class length is 12 months for student classes and 6 months for instructor classes. Default class length is 3 months, but can be adjusted.  Means that current max. class availability period is 15 months (12+3).
• Netacad HelpDesk normally can help to unarchive some classes by request. Note that old Canvas classes will be impossible to unarchive after 15 September 2021, this is a no return date for Canvas classes.
