NDG Introduction to Linux is a 2-course series for aspiring Linux system administrators. Develop proficiency in performing maintenance tasks on the command line, installing and configuring a computer running Linux, and configuring basic networking, using virtual machines running Linux.
Introduction to Linux I, 70 hours, prepares you for certification Exam 101 and covers: system architecture, Linux installation and package management, GNU and UNIX commands, devices, Linux file systems, and file system hierarchy standards.
Introduction to Linux II, 70 hours, prepares you for certification Exam 102 and covers: shells, scripting and data management, interfaces and desktops, administrative tasks, essential system services, networking fundamentals, and security.

Samen met de Nederlandse collega’s van NASC vertegenwoordigt BiASC sinds 1 oktober het Linux Professional Institute (LPI) in de Benelux.
Het Linux Professional Institute biedt geen cursussen aan om met Linux-systemen om te gaan, maar houdt zich alleen bezig met het vaststellen van leerdoelen, het ontwerpen van examens en het beoordelen van de kwaliteit van kennisaanbieders.
NASC en BiASC zorgen ervoor dat het werk van LPI - en dan met name de examens voor Linux-certificeringen - onder de aandacht wordt gebracht van gebruikers en geïnteresseerden. Doel is dat het aantal ICT-professionals met Linux-certificaten verder toeneemt. Dat aantal staat nu wereldwijd op ruim 135.000.

The Linux Essentials Course, developed by NetAcad partner NDG, teaches students the fundamentals of the Linux operating system and command line, and basic open source concepts. It’s designed for students who want a comprehensive introduction to the Linux operating system.
This 16-chapter course uses a "learn by doing" approach. Each learner has hands-on access to the Linux virtual machine to practice, explore, and test Linux command-line concepts. From the fourth chapter on, the course provides step-by-step labs to help students build knowledge progressively and learn Linux commands that require practice to master.

Based on the importance of Linux and the growing need for Linux professionals, Cisco continues to develop partnerships targeted at expanding Linux offerings with an emphasis on providing learners the job-ready skills needed for expertise in ICT and IoE. In developing new offerings, some partners may incur additional costs. In such cases, Cisco accepts their need to recover costs as a necessary strategy for course sustainability. A new Linux course is available for teaching in Netspace. For the time being no instructor training is required. All Netacad instructors are able to create Linux classes.
The skills taught in this course are applicable to a wide range of careers including networking, software development and Linux administration.
