New free version of Cisco Modelling Labs (CML) for Cisco Networking Academies

Happy to learn that Cisco Networking Academies will be entitled to a free version of Cisco Modelling Labs. Although there are limits, there is enough to experiment for creative networkers. The free copy will be available on 10 December.

Cisco Modeling Labs Free offer access to a total of five (5) nodes at any given time along with the latest features such as smart annotations, NGFW enablement, custom MAC address, LDAP improvements, and more.

· IOLv, IOLvL2, ASAv and host reference platforms can be turned on

· Please note: All of the above reference platforms count against the 5-node limit

GNS3 Tutorial - Installing, configuring, then tweaking GNS3 on Windows 7

GNS3 is an open source software that simulate complex networks while being as close as possible to the way real networks perform. All of this without having dedicated network hardware such as routers and switches. In order to use GNS3 you need a valid Cisco IOS licence, which may not be the case for the devices used within the GNS3 environment.

Downloading IOS Images (Netacad Maintenance Program)

This message explains how to download IOS images if your Cisco Academy  is participating in the NetAcad Maintenance program and your username is in the list of the participants.

A quick and easy way to download the correct IOS image from cisco.com is to use the hyper-links provided in the ‘Networking Academy Maintenance Image & Hardware Support’ document. After selecting the appropriate curriculum from the opening menu, you will be taken to the list of approved hardware to use for the curriculum labs. You will also find this and additional information in the ‘Networking Academy Maintenance IOS Download Guide’ document.
