New Learning Environment for Corning Network IQ

In the next academic year the Corning Network IQ Learning Programme will be in the same learning environment as Cisco Networking Academy.

CiscoLive, Corning HQ & IoE Hackathon Berlin | FEB 2016

 

Around 25 participants from the Benelux attended CiscoLive and the IoE Hackathon in Berlin. During a visit to the EMEA headquarters of CORNING we learned the practicalities of the Corning Network IQ Elite Programme for educational institutions.

Corning Network IQ

Wil je lesprogramma's op het gebied van glasvezel gaan gebruiken, meld je dan aan voor het glasvezelprogramma van BiASC en NASC. Dat programma biedt jou als docent een opleiding om met de lesprogramma's van Corning te gaan werken. Daarbij kun je gebruik maken van flinke kortingen op het gebruik van die programma's. Het wereldwijd opererende bedrijf Corning is een van de toonaangevende leiders op het gebied van glasvezel.

Door de samenwerking van BiASC, NASC, Corning en SixFourteen zijn de lesprogramma's van Corning beschikbaar zijn voor onderwijsinstellingen in de Benelux. De eerste training staat gepland op 8 en 15 februari in Beverwijk (nl)!

BiASC en NASC hebben door het partnerschap het unieke recht voor de Benelux om Corning-programma's te promoten en aan te bieden. Als docent volg je twee trainingen en kun je aan de slag met een uitstekend lesprogramma voor je leerlingen of studenten. Daarna kun je gespecialiseerde praktijktrainingen volgen voor verdere verdieping.

Spare SFP-10G-LR Modules

After finishing a fiber optic project, a Cisco Academy has some spare single-mode SFP-10G-LR Modules for Cisco switches on offer for the decent price of 250 euro (ex VAT). It is possible to receive an invoice if you wish to buy the product.

 

The Cisco 10GBASE-LR Module supports a link length of 10 kilometers on standard single-mode fiber (SMF, G.652).

Understanding How Optical Fiber Type Affects Speed and Distance

In this video you are given the basics of how Optical Fiber Type affects speed and distance, starting with Multimode 62.5/125 µm (AKA: OM1) and Multimode 50/125 µm core size comes in three different classifications (OM2, OM3 and OM4). Singlemode Fiber is also discussed. These optical fiber types have great differences in their speed and distance.

8. Accrediting instructors to teach protected curricula
9. Collaborating to improve the teaching and learning of IT
10. Sponsoring competitions for IT students in the field of innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship
