Wil je lesprogramma's op het gebied van glasvezel gaan gebruiken, meld je dan aan voor het glasvezelprogramma van BiASC en NASC. Dat programma biedt jou als docent een opleiding om met de lesprogramma's van Corning te gaan werken. Daarbij kun je gebruik maken van flinke kortingen op het gebruik van die programma's. Het wereldwijd opererende bedrijf Corning is een van de toonaangevende leiders op het gebied van glasvezel.
Door de samenwerking van BiASC, NASC, Corning en SixFourteen zijn de lesprogramma's van Corning beschikbaar zijn voor onderwijsinstellingen in de Benelux. De eerste training staat gepland op 8 en 15 februari in Beverwijk (nl)!
BiASC en NASC hebben door het partnerschap het unieke recht voor de Benelux om Corning-programma's te promoten en aan te bieden. Als docent volg je twee trainingen en kun je aan de slag met een uitstekend lesprogramma voor je leerlingen of studenten. Daarna kun je gespecialiseerde praktijktrainingen volgen voor verdere verdieping.

Docenten leren werken met het basisprogramma van Corning op het gebied van actuele glasvezeltoepassingen.
Deze training is geschikt voor docenten die lesgeven op het gebied van netwerkinfrastructuur en die hun leerlingen of studenten kennis willen laten maken met actuele glasvezeltoepassingen door middel van het Basic Fiber IQ programma.

Docenten leren werken met allerhande praktijkgevallen uit het basisprogramma van Corning op het gebied van actuele glasvezeltoepassingen om hun leerlingen of studenten te kunnen onderwijzen in het programma Fiber IQ Premium. Het Premium programma verschilt op zich niet veel van het Basisprogramma, maar er wordt ook aandacht besteed aan een Learning Management System (LMS).
Deze training is geschikt voor docenten die succesvol de basistraining hebben gevolgd om het programma Basic Fiber IQ te kunnen onderwijzen. Zij leren omgaan met de praktijkcasussen en hoe zij hun leerlingen/studenten kunnen begeleiden bij deze casussen.

The Corning Network IQ Program focuses on fiber optic networking and cabling technologies. Students will learn how to design, build and measure fiber optic networks.
Learning Materials
Learning materials and hands-on labs have been developed by SixFourteen Projects and are available. Next to the lab exercises you will be sent Powerpoint presentations explaining the concepts and design of fiber optic networks.
Canvas Learning Environment
BiASC is still negotiating the terms and conditions for using the Canvas learning environment. We hope to obtain good conditions for non-commercial organisations.
Instructor Training
Specifically for safety reasons, it is only possible to teach the fiber optics course after an instructor course. BiASC provides regular instructor training sessions.
Membership
Educational institutions who are members of the BiASC Corning Networking IQ Program are entitled for discounts for lab materials, consumables (connectors, cables, ...) and Fluke measurement equipment.
Moreover, it is possible to visit with your students our demo center in Brussels to practice the design and measurement (Fluke) of fiber optic cabling, connectors and patch panels.
Yearly Fee for learning materials and membership
The yearly fee for using the developed learning materials, support and membership is 500 euro.

In this video you are given the basics of how Optical Fiber Type affects speed and distance, starting with Multimode 62.5/125 µm (AKA: OM1) and Multimode 50/125 µm core size comes in three different classifications (OM2, OM3 and OM4). Singlemode Fiber is also discussed. These optical fiber types have great differences in their speed and distance.
