BiASC connects IT Academies from higher and secondary education and from non-commercial professional and social training institutions. It acts as a go-between for the professional IT world and the world of education, building bridges and making it easier to follow trends and evolutions.
The current focus areas of BiASC are Innovation Competences, Digital Business, Skills for Industry, Country Digitization and "Train the Trainer". Internet & cloud technology with open standards, and mobility with smart devices form the foundation of the digitized world.
BiASC was established in 2013 as an official Cisco CSR Partner to enable communication and co-operation within the Belgian ICT education sector. BiASC is an independent and non-commercial organization serving as a network for ICT education in Belgium. BiASC also promotes international co-operation and works with sister organizations in the Netherlands, Luxemburg, Germany, Spain and many others. BiASC has been expanding and started co-operation with global IT vendors who have a relevant offering for IT education. In that sense BiASC has the ambition to be a trusted advisor.
BiASC has three main functions:
- giving curriculum advice as an Academy Support Center (ASC)
- providing in-service teacher training as an Instructor Training Center (ITC)
- improving the way people learn as an Academy Resource Center
Organizations like BiASC exist in nearly every country.

Cisco CSR and Networking Academy
BiASC was established in the context of the Cisco CSR global Networking Academy Program (NetAcad). NetAcad focuses on digital skills. As one of the builders of the Internet, Cisco Systems have consistently leveraged technology to solve real business and social problems, and to build bridges to new possibilities. For more than 20 years NetAcad has been providing IT training, preparing students around the world for entry-level jobs, career transitions, and professional certification.
NetAcad does not focus on products, but rather on ideas, concepts, methods, competences and skills. More than 9 million students in 180 countries have participated in Networking Academy in twenty years, and the number continues to grow. The traditional slogan of NetAcad is "Mind Wide Open".
- NetAcad will provide training for students so that they will be able to better contribute to the changing economy.
- NetAcad will provide opportunities for teachers, educators and instructors to create a professional network so that they are better prepared in using new technologies.
BiASC supports this approach.
