New CyberOps Associate Course

During the summer a new CyberOps Course will be released focussing on the new CyberOps Associate certification. BiASC is ready to support all Cisco Academies and instructors interested in CyberSecurity Operations.

The CyberOps Associate Course aligns with the new CBROPS 200-201 Certification Exam. The major difference between the previous CCNA CyberOps and the CyberOps Associate certification is the shift in the requirement for two exams to certify to one exam. The new, consolidated CyberOps Associate has been updated to cover the latest fundamentals for entry-level cybersecurity operations job roles (SOC analyst).

The course covers: Security concepts, security monitoring, host-based analysis, network intrusion analysis, and security policies and procedures. This includes some new topics such as: access control models for digital assets, malware analysis and interpretation, identifying protected data, and understanding key SOC metrics to expedite detection and containment of breaches. Networking fundamentals have been removed and are part of the CCNA certification.

Cisco Modeling Labs are one of the tools to offer remote lab opportunites for students in the follwoing domains:

• CCNP
• Advanced CCNA
• Security
• DevNet

NetAcad Courses Requiring Instructor Accreditation

Cisco Networking Academy offers more than 30 interactive online courses from beginner to expert level. For some courses it is required that the teacher, trainer or instructors provides evidence that s/he understands the concepts and masters the necessary skills. Here is an update regarding the accreditation requirements. A formal industry certification is not required for Cisco Academy instructors.

Instructor-teaching qualifications vary depending on the course or courses selected. The courses listed below require accreditation or instructor training to ensure quality learning outcomes for your students. We also recommend completing the free online Academy Orientation course for helpful information in setting up courses and using the education platform, NetAcad.com. 

Twinning Project -- Video Materials

The idea of interconnecting or twinning Cisco NetAcad Labs originates from Pierre de Fooz (BiASC & HEPL Liege, Belgium) who has created a working prototype and has performed tests with students from Belgium, Sweden and France. Here is the preparation of the video recordings in which the TWINING concept and the TWINNING REMOTE LAB CHALLENGE are explained.

Question 1 . Can you explain a problem you have identified regarding lab equipment in Cisco Academies ? 

We have had the opportunity to work with Cisco Academies from different countries in the last few years. We are collaborating with academies in Belgium, Sweden, France, Nigeria,... 

We have noticed that there is a huge discrepancy between Cisco Academies having enough lab equipment and academies in need... 

We can roughly estimate that thousands of Cisco Academies are lacking suitable equipment. 

BiASC Team Shifting to "No Lockdown"

The Belgian BiASC Team is shifting to "No Lockdown" in the true Cisco NetAcad style. New opportunities are becoming apparent for the next educational period:

• Twinning Challenge making teams at two Cisco Academies work together

Quite a number of Cisco Academy Instructors have been working on hardware lab access solutions so that students are able to experience working with real equipment and solving real problems. Marc Delmotte has provided his students with all the equipment necessary for the CCNA and Security courses. Marc is an instructor Trainer in Belgium who also teaches full-time in higher education.

Remote Teaching Best Practices -- Cisco NetAcad IPD WEEK

Nico Declerck and Yvan Rooseleer from BiASC organized a webinar about Remote Teaching Best Practices for Cisco NetAcad IPD Week on Thursday 30 April 2020.  The webinar started streaming at 14pm. There were about 150 attendees from all over the world, mainly Networking Academy instructors and coordinators. At the end of the presentation there were a lot of interesting questions from the audience. A video of the conference is available for NetAcad instructors and coordinators.

TWINNING PROJECT & COMPETITION

Let Cisco Academies students connect to live Cisco Hardware labs for real networking challenges

The Twinning Concept is based on the need for connection services across borders allowing collaboration between Cisco Academies, students and instructors by making possible remote connections with physical (and virtual) lab equipment. The Twinning competition is a co-creation challenge for "Twin Cisco Academy Teams". 

All competition teams will have access to a working prototype so that they can evaluate, use and test the existing connection services. After getting acquainted with the prototype, teams are invited to propose and create additional didactic use cases or connection services.

Design, develop, prototype and create a didactic use case based on the Twinning concept between remote Cisco Academy labs.

Twin Academy Teams are briefed, trained, coached and followed up by NetAcad Coaches and Cisco Experts

Reporting Errors in NetAcad Courses

On a regular basis BiASC receives messages from active members about errors in course content, labs, quizzes or tests. Cisco NetAcad Support advises the following approach. Please use the community related to the actual course to report errors or remarks.

HOW TO?

If the user is a non-student user, please have him post this issue in the Community Forum. 

We recommend using the Community Forum which is a great tool to get answers on technical issues users have come across.

Reporting Errors in Online NetAcad Courses

As an ASC in Belgium Belgian IT Academy Support Center  (BiASC) often receives messages from NetAcad members regarding mistakes in the online courses, online tests and hands-on labs (also PT). Academy Instructors are able to report errors to Cisco Support

Non-student users can report errors found in the curriculum to Cisco Support [netacadsupport@netacad.com].

 

Please provide the following elements when reporting an error in the curriculum:

• The name of the course
• The error in the course, page # or activity name
• If possible a screenshot of the error

 

As soon as you update the case with these information, Cisco Support will forward your case to the NetAcad Curriculum and Assessment Team for review of the errors.

Hello everyone,

As you know, the situation is rapidly evolving, and it is with regret that we decided to postpone the event of 27 March so that you all have the possibility to setup something nice in a virtual conference. The date should be around end of April or May.

We would like to keep the same schedule. The idea would be, once again, to let you give an overall presentation of your IT academies in the morning, more suited for beginners or people who are not already part of your programs. The afternoon should be geared towards more advanced users of your products who would like to learn some new stuff about it.

As a reminder, there’s about a hundred academies part of BiASC who could potentially view all your presentations.
