ADVANCING THE BUSINESS OF TECHNOLOGY - On 6 February 2019 CompTIA organized its first Benelux Community Meeting for delegates from the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg. As technology has become pervasive in all domains of the economy, there were about 40 delegates from many different industry domains. Not only large enterprises were present, but also small and medium companies. 90 percent of the CompTIA members are SMB's.
CompTIA is best known for its A+ Certification Tracks, laying the foundation for the future career of many IT Professionals. Annually, more than 1 000 000 candidates enroll for the A+ certification exam.
Based on the research conducted by CompTIA it appears that the Benelux region is a progressive IT market. Technology has become pervasive in all domains of the economy. The next big things might be a combination of technologies and solutions. There are opportunities to build a whole new economy. Sadly, there is a lack of personnel with technology skills.
For BiASC the work of CompTIA serves as an inspiration to look at the competences and skills needed in various technology domains. In every region of the world CompTIA is working with superconnectors.
Apart from the obvious CyberSecurity, there are definitely new trends to look out for, just to name a few:
- Ambiant Computing: IoT and more
- Stackabale Computing
- Sales Channels Reinvention
A lot of research has been performed by CompTIA to create a new interesting industry outlook for the coming year. All CompTIA members are able to consult the results of this research.
During the discussions among participants proposals like Customer Experience came along, looking for better ways to introduce use cases of technology to customers.
Finally, we received advice to rather use new terms to attract more students to IT education programmes. IT appears that many youngsters find terms like "informatics" and "IT" outdated and unappealing.
