Context & Background
Virtualisation is a major area of growth within the IT field and suffers from a significant skills shortage. VCP is VMware's first level of certification that focuses squarely on the vSphere virtualisation platform. Recipients should have the skills to install, deploy, scale and manage vSphere environments, as well as general virtualisation skills.
As a result professionals with such skills can demand a high price for their knowledge and experience. The VMware IT Academy Program is an important component of VMware education programmes. The academic institutions that agree to participate in the VMware IT Academy Program fulfil an important role in providing VMware education worldwide. These academic institutions operate as business alliances of VMware with an objective of delivering educational services to their students. The VMware IT Academy Program is designed to introduce students to VMware technologies and equip them with VMware technical skills to complement their chosen fields of study. VMware will provide selected academic institutions with course materials developed by VMware for this purpose. By instituting this program, VMware seeks to create a collaborative relationship with academic institutions whereby their students may obtain the VMware Certified Professional (VCP) status and other VMware certifications.
In cooperation with Stichting NASC, BiASC is a Regional VMWare academy in Europe. Regional Academies are working closely with VMware to make the programme available to a wider audience. BiASC and NASC are able to help academies set up a VMware Academy and provide instructor training.
The VMware IT Academy team has announced that all vITA need to be linked with a Regional Academy and it is only through such a link and attending their instructor training programmes will the instructors be eligible for the 100% discount certification voucher.
